Travel to Denmark and you will find shops owned and run by creative people displaying varied, bold and interesting goods for sale. The whole shopping experience has a relaxed friendly atmosphere and this is exactly what the owners of: “Bibi Klamer” number 17, Brook Street, Selby, have created.

It’s not difficult to find, the windows and the shop itself are full of colourful and funky children’s clothing, wooden and retro toys, jewellery, bags and whatever Anne and Bibi think will make the customers smile.

The partners make the clothes displaying the “Bibi Klamer” label on the premises; the fabrics used are chosen carefully and in small quantities to fit with how they see their end product and to ensure individuality.

The clothes that are not made in house are Danish designers such as Smafolk, Phister & Phelina, Cecilie Westh, IdaT, Katvig and Drappa Dot amongst others, these are labels which are also bright, innovative and most importantly affordable.

The business is owned and run by Anne and Bibi a mother-in-law daughter-in-law partnership living in and around Selby.

Bibi is Danish and comes from an artistic background of family involvement in the design and making of clothing, she has lived in England for 13 years with her partner and 2 young children.

Anne retired in 2003 and moved north with her husband to be near their grandchildren in Yorkshire and Holland.

Together they have realised their dream and created a quintessential good old-fashioned family run business.
